Review of The Warrior's Way (2010) by Lionel F — 30 Jun 2011
Not as bad as I was expecting. And it was definitely better than Ninja Assassin. The issue with that movie was that the main actor was just a fucking sissy throughout the entire movie. Jang Dong Gun at least has the demeanor of a bad-ass, so it worked to a degree.
What kills this movie, is the usage of green screen backgrounds and the stylized action. The green screen shit didn't work for the Star Wars prequels, so it's probably not going to work in a movie with nowhere near the budget of a Star Wars movie.
The action wasn't bad, but it wanted to be over-the-top without being too violent. Either you go all out or don't even bother because it just feels cheap. I don't know what they were thinking when making this movie as a PG-13 affair.
But, again, it's not bad, it's just could have been a hell of a lot better.
