Review of The Warrior's Way (2010) by Jennifer T — 18 Jan 2012
Style over substance is the main problem here. It looks very fantastical and tries to amalgamate a ninja assassin with a tale set in the old west, a sort of Yojimbo meets A Fistful of dollars. Trouble is there is hardly any swordplay, which is disappointing considering the subject matter and ultimately the story lacks any real substance.
Coupled with the fact that the fantastical style just looks quite fake and clearly everyone is on a sound stage somewhere and not in the desert. I must admit I have a hatred of really fake looking sets and everyone relying on green screen technology to make the film look good.
None of that works here and it's all just a waste of time.
