Overall a disappointment considering how much I love Carpenter, THE WARD, tells the story of Kristen a girl who arrives at a psychiatric ward and discovers that someone is systematically killing off the female occupants in her ward.

There are some good scenes of Carpenter-esque goodness but really they are few and far between. The script is pretty lackadaisical, and its all just rather generic and run of the mill. Give Carpenter credit for using entirely practical effects; he really does try to make it brooding and atmospheric but it ends up feeling like a bad Master's of Horror episode more than anything else.
