Review of The Ward (2010) by Allen R — 16 Aug 2011
GIRL INTERRUPTED by way of IDENTITY. Not Carpenter's best film, just his best in 25 years, which isn't really saying all that much. This could have been on par with his exemplary recent tv work with their strong performance, solid direction, and a less-is-more approach reminiscent of his early films, but when it comes time to turn on the spooky, he reverts to his later films by revealing far too much, in this case a ghost/monster that would have been far more effective had we never seen it.
