Review of The Ward (2010) by Jamie F — 08 Sep 2012
Thanks to John Carpenter's skillful directing, this movie is entertaining with some decent horror scenes.... but, everything thats wrong with this movie isn't really Carpenter's fault, as it is the story that's unoriginal and he didn't write it.... and the twist... oh lord, the twist.... I guess it's been done worse in other films, but it's still very predictable and in the end a bit of a let down, especially since it was at it's most exciting in the finale.
Another thing that's good though is the acting and Amber Heard has never stuck out as great or anything, but here I'm proven wrong as she is great in the role of the lost and confused, but tough lead of the movie.
There's some good stuff and some bad stuff, but I did like it more than hate it, not the great return from Carpenter we wanted, but he's still on form... let's hope for the best if he does anything else.
