It's horribly dated, but that's not the problem I have with it. It's horribly acted but that not it either. The original H.G. Wells story never had so much religious bullshit in it. The scientist that claims a miracle of god at the end? The narrator talking about god at the end? It makes a mockery out of the whole thing.
On a side note, I would really like to see a direct adaptation of the book. I don't mind the story being changed to suit the audience or changed (most of the time) as that's what an adaptation is, but I would love to see a version that takes place in 1898 when the book was written.
It would be a science fiction period piece. Oh, well, it'll never happen.
