Review of The War of the Worlds (1953) by Jonathan D — 26 Feb 2008
It's a classic story by H.G. Wells, that has survived adaptation to radio (listen to the Orson Welles radio program first, if you've never heard the story), film (multiple times), and television.
There's a good reason this tale continues to be retold... it addresses the possibility of human extermination by a superior alien species. A horrific concept, no matter how campy the film may seem today.
Well worth checking out, both for its innate watchability and for historical perspective.
