Review of The War of the Roses (1989) by Karen L — 21 Oct 2007
Not sure why I like this film so well--it is not typical of my movie taste. It is incredible to me how the two (the Roses) are so consumed in their greed and hatred for one another that they destroy each other, and, in the process, destroy the very things they are fighting to keep--their beautiful home and all of the furnishings within.
I also find it amusing that though Oliver really does love Barbara and makes an effort to reconcile their relationship, Barbara is unrelenting and displays pure loathe of Oliver's very being. Though the movie tells a tragic story, it carries a peculiar humor through the entire movie.
