Review of The Walk (2015) by Chinmay C — 18 Oct 2015
Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars are a French artist, Philippe Pettit, whose dream is to perform high-wire in between the Twin Towers of the still under construcition World Trade Center in the 1970's. The last act of this movie is breath-taking and extremely well executed.
It is filled with tension and peace at the same time. Tension for Philippe 's survival and peace for fulfilling his dream. The part which lead to this nail-biting final act though was absolutely boring.
The movie digs extremely deep into Philippe's childhood and what motivated him to perform this feat. Although that is an important aspect of his story, it could have been easily reduced. JGL does a good job as a French man, though sometimes his accent seems forced.
This movie could have used more of Ben Kingsley who plays the mentor of Philippe. The cinematography is spectacular and the visual effects are not compromised anywhere throughout the movie. The movie projects a good and important story of courage and determination, I n spite of having certain flaws.
