Review of The Walk (2015) by Amanda C — 31 Jan 2016
Joseph Gordon-Levitt' French accent takes some getting getting used to, but there's no denying that The Walk is a spectacular feat of visual filmmaking. Robert Zemeckis has used the 3D to its fullest effect.
The shots on the wire are mind blowing and vertigo inducing. The danger of Philippe Petit's high wire walk between the twin towers is palpable, but so is the awe and the beauty of the high wire that drove Petit to pull off his crazy stunt.
There could be a little more substance in the narrative, but the poetry of the image is more than enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.
