Review of The Walk (2015) by Kevin R — 28 Jan 2016
My name is Philippe Petit. I am a wire walker.
In 1974 the twin towers World Trade Center buildings are about to be completed in New York City. A high wire artist named Philippe Petit is always looking for the next great walk, and he sees a high wire walk between the towers as his next great challenge. He finds planning and executing this illegal act before the towers are finished being built a stressful and pain staking task, but he'll need to work as a team if he hopes to finish the job in a timely manner.
"I certainly prefer the English.".
Robert Zemeckis, director of Castaway, Back to the Future 1-3, Forrest Gump, Contact, Death Becomes Her, The Polar Express, A Christmas Carol, and What Lies Beneath, delivers The Walk. The storyline for this picture is very unique and well done and the cinematography is breathtaking and very intense. The acting is perfect and the cast includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Inka Malovich, Jean-Robert Bourdage, and Soleyman Peirini.
"It's impossible but I'll do it.".
We really liked the previews for this when it was in theatres so we decided to give it a shot. The premise was very fascinating and the elements and perspectives were unique and fresh. This film really has a lot going for it. There may be some limited repeat viewing value, but this movie is definitely worth watching once.
"They're monstrous.".
Grade: B+.
