Review of The Walk (2015) by Chris H — 28 May 2016
To start, I saw this at home on blu ray and not in any sort of IMAX 3D. Perhaps that makes a difference. Anyway, my take on this movie is perhaps the opposite of many others. I felt the film really built the story well to the big finish, and that's where it fell flat.
At first I really got behind and rooted for the main character. You see all the details of what brought him to the twin towers. Then, well, in my opinion, the ending was a real turn off because he came across as a narcissist who really enjoyed the attention, not an artist making a statement.
By the end I couldn't have cared less if he fell or not. Overall though, it's a pretty decent film that seems to accurately tell the story. I just eventually got to the point where I didn't like Philippe Petit all that much.
