Review of The Walk (2015) by Nick L — 14 Jun 2016
Decent film enhanced by 3D (I would probably give it a 3 if I hadn't seen it in 3D). I had first heard of Philippe Petite from his documentary Man On Wire, which was breathtaking and gave a more complete story into his life. I saw his Ted Talk and was really blown away at how amazing he is as a story teller, so Joseph Gordon Levitt had some very big shoes to fill and for the most part he does a good job. The pacing of the film seemed good and the actors had good chemistry. The 3D can be really nerve wracking especially the WTC scenes. I watched it with my family and everyone enjoyed it.
I would recommend this film, especially for the 3D, but would suggest checking out Man On Wire and Philippe Petite's Ted Talk afterwards. Seeing these two before watching this film, however, will take away a lot of the shock value from The Walk and is probably the real reason why I didn't give it a star higher in ratings.
