Review of The Wages of Fear (1953) by Gordon T — 22 Apr 2012
I saw this at Cornell Cinemas two weeks ago in 35MM FILM from Criterion . . .
Wages of Fear is DEATH . . . if you fear you die. its like in Proverbs in the Bible WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH.
To explain the ending: the guy wasn't nuts when he was driving back to the village. the guy's behavior is an accurate psychological portrayal of the survival-instinct, when you've almost lost your life you become uncontrollably.
"high" believing you've conquered death.
WAGES OF FEAR is an excellent film.
Remade as Sorcerer by William Friedkin; let me tell you, there is NO WAY to successfully remake this masterpiece.
