Review of The Wackness (2008) by Wes R — 12 Jul 2009
If I had seen this last year it would have no doubt made my top ten! The acting here is extraordinary around the board with a surprisingly deep and moving performance by Josh Peck. I doubted very much that I would except him in a movie like this because of his Nickelodeon record, but he delivers. Ben Kingsly turns in a performance that I have enjoyed more than any of his other work.
The soundtrack here is awesome, and it plays really smoothly with the movie. Usually when a film has a very specific soundtrack it can be distracting, but it works incredibly well here.
The slick visual style and very funny script elevate this movie above just being another coming of age drama. Seek out now if you haven't seen it.
