Review of The Wackness (2008) by Gianluca B — 21 Nov 2009
New York City, adolescence, marijuana, DOPE beats, love and heartbreak. Director Jonathan Levine did impressive work, if you grew up in the 90's, you will certainly be able to relate to anything in that period.
Josh Peck plays Luke a teenager living in NYC dealing with adolescent emotions, and who also deals pot to his psychiatrist Ben Kingsley plays Dr. Squires. Luke's psychiatrist who turns out to have just as many issues in adulthood.
You follow Luke's journey to self discover, love and friendship. Ben Kingsley is hilarious, and Josh Peck is on his way to establishing himself in Hollywood. The preview to this movie does it no justice.
In no way is it corny, it is much more "real" then portrayed. Highly recommended.
