Review of The Wackness (2008) by Maura G — 23 Feb 2010
The Wackness is dope shit yo.
A compelling story, although nothing really new. Peck is a real standout, showing he can really do something with a role when he isn't stuck in a lame Nickelodeon show. Thirlby is cute and funny, but she will forvever be defined by her role in Juno for me. Kingsley, notorious as of late for poor career choices, really hits the right notes here and gives a very funny mentor/friend performance alongside Peck. All in all The Wackness is pretty kick ass: a fun, funny comedy with enough dramatic pull to stay compelling and two standout performances, one from a relatively new face and the other from Gandhi.
