Review of The Wackness (2008) by Fred W — 11 Feb 2009
REVIEW: Surprisingly good. PLOT SPOILER: Dejected (partially due to quarreling parents) NY student drug-deal strikes up friendship with his therapist (who he pays with drugs). They both are depressed, but therapist urges they give up legitimate medication and take a carpe diem attitude which works for a while, but student relationship with therapists daughter fizzles, and therapists marriages fizzles.
Comes to a head when therapist is suicidal, but student gets some backbone and gets them back on legit medication and more stability. Student pushes therapist to start relationship with client of student who really seems his kindred-sprit.
Student heads off to college accepting his situation (and heart-break), and seeing his parents do have a bond (after they are evicted).
