Review of The Voices (2014) by Justin S — 06 May 2015
Pretty entertaining for black comedy film about a mentally ill man turned killer. Ryan Reynolds' performance as the "weirdo" with inner struggles is superb on representing a person being taunted with the hallucinations schizophrenia brings upon.
The visuals in the film and cinematography also help envision the world that the protagonist, Jerry, is surrounded by. But unfortunately, I feel as it portrays people with the mental illness in a negative way by society labeling the man more of a murderer rather than a person needing help.
Sympathy for the main protagonist, but KUDOS for the film!
