Review of The Visitor (1979) by Allan C — 22 Jul 2014
A must see for aficionados of weirdo cinema! Wildly bizarre Italian hybrid of "The Omen" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," Paige Conner plays a girl with powerful telekinetic powers and is being battled over by forces of good (John Huston) and evil (a young Lance Henriksen).
This is a film that has to be seen to be believed. It plays out in an absolutely ludicrous fashion that defies description. The overall film really does not go together as a whole, but it's so weird you cannot take your eyes off it.
I wouldn't say this is a poorly made film, but it's something of a glorious mess. It wants to be a terrifying and art house all at the same time, but really doe snot achieve it's goal. The casting of the film is even more bizarre, if John Huston and Lance Henriksen going head-to-head wasn't enough, there's also Mel Ferrer, Glenn Ford, Shelley Winters, and Sam Peckinpah (?).
This film probably deserves zero stars but it get's *** for shear mondo audacity and entertainment value. Must be seen to be believed!
