Review of The Visit (2015) by Ninthdoctorguy — 26 Sep 2015
This was my first experience with M. Night Shyamalan as a filmmaker, avoiding his other films due to the severe critical backlash they received (The Last Airbender, After Earth, etc.), so I don't have anything against the writer/director going in. Before viewing, I had looked at RottenTomatoes and IMDb for ratings and they were alright, enough to get me to go see the film. So, what did I think?
I really enjoyed The Visit. It was a great time and is one of my favorite movies of the year, maybe from the last two years. There was that creepy essence from the grandparents, but then there was humor from Tyler that kind of made the movie a balance. The actors were great, the scenes were creepy, the writing was top form, and the directing was like no other. Even if you have a grudge against M. Night Shyamalan after his late films, you may be able to forgive him when you see his latest flick.
