Review of The Visit (2015) by Brian A — 23 Dec 2015
Before I give this review, PLEASE here me out! What I'm about to say may freak some people out. This movie MAY be the start of M. Night Shyamalan's "comeback" as a director and he should really stick to these low budget films.
I really enjoyed the concept and theme of this film. The places that Shyamalan wanted to go and touch on were GREATLY executed. For a found footage film, this movie really wrapped around a reason to make it a "found footage" film with the characters aspirations.
I have to say, VERY good child acting. Though, there were some parts were there was ALOT of build up and suspense, but then the boy has to add something to make it funny and I just lost the creepy vibe.
I like how the boy was the comic relief in the film, but some of his dialogue came with bad timing. "The Visit" is definitely worth seeing, but I'd go see it on a weekday during school hours.
The theater I watched this in was PACKED with other high schoolers and they were extremely obnoxious. Usually I can handle it, but tonight it was REALLY distracting. One of the worst theater experiences.
I have to give this movie another viewing to completely grasp some story I had missed. I rate it an 8.3/10.
