Review of The Visit (2015) by Jonny C — 10 Jan 2016
Could the visit be M. Night Shyamalan's return to form.... I doubt it , this movie was good but wasn't anything I would make me say omg he's back. Realistically was he ever even there Sixth Sense was good so was Unbreakable and Signs was just ok, after that I can't think of anything else good or even remotely decently. And if you look at the trend of horror movies at that time there wasn't much to write home about maybe adding to his popularity. Anyways back to the movie, The Visit honestly surprised me not so much in a horror sense I liked the suspenseful build ups and I really enjoyed the comedy elements I thought it was differeny I mean it had its "scary" moments but it wasn't to the point that I was jumping, though it was pretty decent as a whole. The story line was a new and fresh idea with a solid story line andÃ, pretty good acting from everyone and a twist I don't think anyone saw coming. The directing was pretty good as was the production I'm not the biggest fan of the POV style in any movie so that bothered me a bit, but It did help to make it come off as really realistic.Ã, Did I have a fun time watching this? Ya I honestly did and I did like it, but was it anything amazing? no, I did feel like at moments the suspense was high but I never felt genuinely scared so that took away a little bit. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the genre people outside it may be harder to sway into watching this .
6.75/10.
