Review of The Visit (2015) by Steve H — 11 Mar 2016
I just got out of this and all I can say is that this was an excellent film! Believe me I was just as skeptical as everyone else but you know the movie totally worked! The story was engaging, the acting from the kids was really good as well as the grandparents.
But the kids especially shined in a couple scenes where they were asked to do some more emotionally dramatic acting and they totally killed it! Another thing I was not expecting as I was going in was just how funny this would be, because it's absolutely hilarious.
Now I'm not saying it's a comedy, not by any stretch of the imagination. It had very suspenseful parts that had me gripping the chair. One of my gripes were that some of the jump scares were a little undeserved.
Which was a shame because so much of this had great tension. The only other gripe I have is a minor SPOILER so if you don't want it just know that this is most definitely worth checking out. For me at least the twist was rather easy to see coming after a couple of instances of something happening.
But the good part was that it made sense this time! M. Night you have done a great job and I can't wait to see your next film.
