Review of The Virgin Suicides (2000) by Maurin G — 09 Nov 2009
This movie is definitely one of the most depressingly beautiful films I've seen. An intriguing perspective on teenage life, delving into love, dreams, fantasies and the problems of repressing emotions especially in teenage girls. Sofia Coppola, while possibly a little bit disturbed, creates a heart-breakingly beautiful story from these five lovely girls who just want to experience life and love. Performances from Kirsten Dunst and the other Virgins are stunning, and their suitors are a lovely example of romantic fantasies in teenage boys, which doesn't seem to happen very often. I can't say the word beautiful enough in this review, Coppola's most well known effort is absolutely stunningly beautiful.
DEFINING SCENE ~ The vinyls - a gorgeous touch.
