Review of The Virgin Suicides (2000) by Kristina G — 19 Dec 2011
Delightful dialogue, and certain moments of narration and acting were genuine and lovely. The movie was largely centered around the mysteriousness of the five girls and their entrapment and deaths BUT I felt that it was completly unsatisfactory and left the viewer in a state of annoyance.
I am coming from the point of view of being brought up in a far stricter household with much more trauma revolving around lack of freedom, so this was simply lackluster and instead of empathy for the girls I just kept thinking "grow the fuck up".
