Review of The Village (2004) by Don S — 09 Jul 2011
This movie takes forever to get where it is going. If not for the stellar performance of Bryce Dallas Howard, this would not be worth watching. Her character is the only one with genuine feelings in the whole community. It was also nice to see William Hurt in a role he could sink his talent into. The twist is not surprising, and the story is pretty vanilla. Mediocre fare (a thriller with no thrills or suspense) from Shyamalan who is still trying to live up to the rep he earned with The Sixth Sense. Don't go in expecting much or you'll be sorely disappointed.
