After The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs, M.Night Shyamalan gives us his characteristically atmospheric thriller- The Village. The story is about a bordered village of Covington which is in rural Pennsylvania.

After a boy has been killed by the creatures who lurk outside the border, the villagers all make an agreement that they are allowed to go outside the village unless they never cross their boundaries. However, this agreement is broken when a headstrong man named Lucius Hunt played by Joaquin Phoenix decides to go outside the village and invite the creatures upon the town.

And here's what the twist is- they are living in modern times because apparently the creatures are basically the old villagers who couldn't cope with normal society so they moved outside the border and let the new villagers take over and now they've decided to live their life that way.

This may one of the least good but at least it's not that abominational The Last Airbender I had to sit through in the cinema and suffer. The Village gets 2.1/10.
