Review of The Village (2004) by Brandon S — 16 Oct 2012
A unique and intense psychological thriller. Shyamalan directs very well once again, and puts together a marvelous cast of A-list stars and up-and-coming actors and actresses. Many of which were, then, soon-to-be stars including Michael Pitt, Jesse Eisenberg, and the film's star Bryce Dallas Howard.
Contrary to this film's rotten certification from Flixster I thought it was a great film and a good change of pace for the thriller genre. Shyamalan, while nowhere near his level yet, is the first real visionary that the genre has had since the great Alfred Hitchcock.
