Review of The Village (2004) by David S — 25 Dec 2016
If I could choose any M. Night Shyamalan flick, it would be The Village. It was the last half-decent film he's made. The main issues he has is that he is unable to hold the same intensity and fear that Signs, and The Sixth Sense gave.
There is the good twist at the end, but the holes throughout ruin what could have been far more effective. I'm also not too sure why grief-stricken people would leave the modern world and retreat 200 years and feel more comfortable with that.
The acting is decent, I thought this was the best I had ever seen Bryce Dallas Howard. Her biggest problem is that she's now associated with Shyamalan after doing Lady In the Water too, which was AWFUL.
