Review of The Veteran (2011) by Roxanne R — 12 May 2014
This is a gem in the rough, very little publicity on this movie and I suspect a low budget yet it was good but I must warn you- a sad ending. Toby Kebbell plays Miller, an ex-soldier returned from Afghanistan to civilian life in the London council estate he used to call home.
Through an ex-army mate (Tom Brooke), Miller finds work in undercover surveillance. He is soon recruited by a couple of shady government operatives (Tony Curran and Brian Cox) for an undercover operation to keep tabs on a network of suspected terrorist cells.
Embedded in the terrorist group is a Lebanese-born British citizen informant (Adi Bielski). What I find so sad is the lonely life of Miller and how he risks his life in order to derail a group of terrorists in London.
The last 15 minutes were explosive but just wish the script had a different ending.
