Review of The Veteran (2011) by Patrick B — 12 May 2014

If you are a vet like myself, and you are in the mood to be insulted this is the movie for you. It would appear that the war in Afghanistan had nothing to do with 9/11 and the murder of 3000 innocent civilians at the hands of jihadists sworn to kill the enemies of Islam. No. The war in Afghanistan was initiated by the CIA in order to keep the drug trade going, because, you know, there are no other countries that produce drugs. But a bit later we find that the war was about oil (how original).

This movie can't get its conspiracy theories straight, so it goes with a couple of them. Veterans are portrayed as knuckle dragging dupes who are incapable of independent thought. Brian Cox makes an appearance as, get this, a corrupt intelligence agent (once again, how original). This film sucked.
