Review of The Verdict (1982) by Eric N — 04 Jul 2007
It's a good film but not great. the court scenes are fine in themselves but the court results are where my strongest complaint lies. newman is good at playing a down on his luck drunk, struggling to pull his way into winning this case for a girl who was given the wrong anesthetic, but his entire mannerisms while in the middle of court was ridiculous.
he looked so sad, and when it'd be time to ram home a point in his argument, he would put his head down and he'd whimper the sentence. I know it's because he's a drunk and he lacks confidence but you can't expect me to believe he'd have a chance of winning.
