Review of The Verdict (1982) by Aren B — 27 Oct 2008
Somber, morose, and very sobering, "The Verdict" can be seen as Sidney Lumet's companion piece to "12 Angry Men". Both films focus on the American Justice system, a system where justice is either bought, or comes from within the judgment of ordinary people themselves.
The performances are astounding, with top marks for Paul Newman and James Mason. See this film for its tension, its veracity and its top-notch quality.
