Review of The Verdict (1982) by Magdalena T — 16 Nov 2009
Oh boy - this is a tough movie to watch if you're an attorney, because the legal maneuvering in "The Verdict" is simply preposterous and about as realistic as Demi Moore's appearance. Granted, a realistic movie would've be less dramatic; I get it - I just had a tough time with the grain of salt I needed.
Fantastic performances from James Mason and of course Paul Newman, but I found the writing a little flat, and Charlotte Rampling's character was either over-edited or simply under-written. Solid directing and a good effort all around - I just had issues with the script.
