Review of The Verdict (1982) by Jonathan M — 06 Jul 2010
"The Verdict" is a critically beloved neo-noir courtroom drama, where Paul Newman plays a washed up, speechifying lawyer looking for redemption. I found Lindsay Crouse (as she also is in Mamet's 'House of Cards') to be wooden and unconvincing in the love plot.
Newman was fine, but this movie is such courtroom cheese with its crusading flawed hero set against the corrupt institutions (both church & state).
