Review of The Verdict (1982) by Casey B — 26 Apr 2004
I don't have much to say (or do I?) about the movie except that I liked it. It is way better than Runaway Jury. I just thought I would bring up that movie even though they are pretty different except for that they are both courtroom movies. Paul Newman is really good but maybe could have been better. His character has to overcome his alcoholism and past to win a difficult case.
*** There might be some spoilers ahead but I don't know yet ***.
He meets a woman at a bar (Charlotte Rampling) and they become involved I guess you could say. Not just a one night stand if ya know what I mean. At first, she seems to be help him get back on track but in the end she is the one that would be holding him back. She ends up depressed and boozing at the end. Wanna know why? Watch the freaking movie! I don't want to explain everything, and plus I'm not the greatest at explaining that kinda stuff. So ya... the very last scene she calls him and he just sits at his desk watching the phone but never answers it. I think he doesn't answer it because he doesn't need her in his life and she'll just hold him back. I could be wrong. So whatever... there is my uninteresting review of The Verdict. Sorry if there are pieces missing and actually for everything else hahaaha.
*** End Spoilers ***.
Recommendation: Rent fo sho... buy if ya like (a lot).
Grade: B+.
