Torn between the avant-garde and the traditional, Todd Haynes’ The Velvet Underground is an intentionally fragmented documentary that’s less about facts, and more about the feeling of being alive in a specific time and place.
While more accessible to those in the know, it’s still hypnotic enough to be inviting.
