Review of The Velocity of Gary (1999) by Rhonda C — 14 Nov 2004
I'm deeply upset by the reviews for this wonderful, REAL movie. I suppose the reviewers should be cut some slack. They don't know what it's like to live in that world. They call it pretensious. They call it a lot of things. But, they'll never know what really goes on in the world outside of their big paychecks and suburban, strait lives.
'The Velocity of Gary' is one of the few movies that shows, truthfully, the world of the disenfranchised. The people who don't quite fit into mainstream america. These are people I know personally. They live violently, and for the moment. They also love completely and honestly.
I recommend this movie as someone who lives in that world. The characters are true and honest. And if you look deeply enough, you'll see the truth in how we all react to loss.
*** And to the critic who refered to AIDS as "the big A"..........FUCK YOU! How dare you belittle such a horrilble disease that way! You should be ashamed of yourself! Though I'm sure, sadly, that you wont be.
