Review of The Vanishing of Sidney Hall (2018) by Adam P — 21 Mar 2018
The first thing I thought when I saw this movie was - that's the most relatable film I've seen made in the last decade. The second thing I thought was - I bet the critics hated I think and the audiences love it. Then I came on here and, true enough, an 82% audience approval and 9% critics rating. Why? Because it's doesn't pander to the ethnocentric, female-centric narrative that all current movies are obliged to follow.
Beautifully shot, well directed, finely acted, and a sharp, sensitive script - please see this movie and be enthralled. I felt nostalgic for a time when movies got made because they had a great story to tell, instead of some politically-correct score to settle.
