After hearing so much negative word of mouth over the years, I didn't expect to find such a naively charming western-kaiju hybrid featuring some of Harryhausen's best stop-motion work. Sure, the plot is a complete cribbing of King Kong, but appropriately so - it was, after all, originally conceived as a sequel.
