Review of The Valet (2022) by Jluis_001 — 20 May 2022
An outdated remake of a 16 year old French movie. That's pretty much evidence of why it feels so ill-adapted.
The Valet is a film that was clearly made with the intention of targeting Latino audiences, mostly because of the presence of Eugenio Derbez, the Mexican Rob Schneider.
What's surprising is that even though the film doesn't make them a couple, the age disparity is excessive and very noticeable for what the story unfolds.
Samara Weaving is 30 years old, Derbez is twice her age.
The age difference between the actors in the original film was only 6 years.
At 60, he's probably too old for roles like this one. I mean he's producing these films in the hopes of exploiting that particular market in the U.S, but he should stop wanting the lead roles. Especially when his bet is so basic and predictable.
100% understandable why it ended up on Hulu.
