Review of The Usual Suspects (1995) by Dane P — 09 Jul 2014
It has its moments, but the plot never really rises to its full potential. The characters never really develop, the plot twists are predictable. Barring some great dialogue from Spacey and some terrific cinematography, I can't see what the big deal about The Usual Suspects is.
Definitely a great starting point for Bryan Singer and a winning performance from Spacey, but other than that, it just feels too dry and too contrived. I don't watch a film for a few zingers and decent last 10 minutes.
Lower your expectations and maybe you'll be amazed.
