Review of The Usual Suspects (1995) by Armando B — 26 Jan 2015
The Usual Suspects was lined up with archetypal cliched suspects, as the name would entail, with the exception of Kevin Spacey who was the chief supporter and mainstay of this movie. I digress, I went a little encyclopedia brown, Nancy Drew style and solved this case.
The ending was a little easy for me personally to sniff out and dig up. However, it was a brilliantly written script, just the puzzle was a little too easy to piece together. This is not to lessen the impact for the average viewer however.
I was still relatively rocked and shocked. I'm aware the plot twist was an iconic 180 degree turn that still has people talking to date. It completely altered the story and changed the entire trajectory of the actual film.
The fact that the 2 hours we spent watching this was total F.B.S. almost had me writing strongly-worded letters to these filmmakers. So yeah this one didn't hit the bullseye for me, I liked Reservoir Dogs better myself, but I'm sure that's a personal preference.
All in all, a good gangster film.
