Review of The Usual Suspects (1995) by Chillindylan G — 08 Mar 2015
From the first time I saw this movie, it was my favorite - and this has not really come close to changing ever since. Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite all-time actors, and this is his best all-time performance. Roughly 90% of this movie is literally Kevin Spacey's character fucking with an overmatched, arrogant cop (played very convincingly by Chazz Palminteri). The story that is told is brilliant - one that is paced perfectly with cuts back to the present. It's a story of a myth (or is it?) that is more frightening than the Boogeyman. The cast is perfect and the dialogue is as sharp as you will find in this type of film. And, in my opinion, this is the best ending of any movie ever made. For me, there are literally no holes or complaints from start to finish. And, the last 10 minutes had my jaw drop the first time I saw it. Just typing this makes me want to throw it on for like the 100th time.
Grade = 10/10.
