Review of The Upside of Anger (2005) by Aibert A — 31 May 2007
This movie follows anger in one mother's trials of dealing with the disappearance of her husband and the pains of moving on, exploring the eccentricities of dealing with family, now as a single mother. Joan Allen's performance was impressive as were the performances of the daughters played by Alicia Witt (Mr. Holland's Opus), Erika Christensen (Traffic), Kerri Russell (Felicity), and Evan Rachel Wood (Thirteen). Kevin Costner is in this movie, and gives an adequate performance, but nothing to write home about.
I thought this movie had some great scenes of family conflict and resolution, and showed in a modern way how family life is not always easy, but with forgiveness and understanding form family depth.
