Review of The Upside of Anger (2005) by Geonard Y — 23 Jan 2007
Directed by Mike Binder.
Starring Joan Allen, Erika Christensen, Kevin Costner, Keri Russell, Alicia Witt, Evan Rachel Wood, Mike Binder.
Usually a middle-aged model mom with four growing daughters suddenly left by her husband spells trouble. Add to that the trouble of staving off her libido from a conveniently attractive baseball pro. However, the real trouble seemed to be how to keep the multitude of characters streamlining into one story arc. Weaknesses in transformation surface this way, evidently with Russell?s character, the less interesting. If she hadn?t been terminally ill in the movie, her character would?ve just faded in the background. Mike Binder who played the sleazy radio producer to Costner?s defiant commentator was able to make a watchable movie though thanks mostly to the absolutely gifted Joan Allen.
Best Scene: ?I?m coming over now??
