Review of The Untouchables (1987) by Jennifer T — 22 Aug 2010
As far as 80s films focusing on any kind of organised crime syndication, this is not a patch on Goodfellas, not even close. However, it does feature a bloody impressive cast AND a couple of scenes that even as a young kid Iâ??ve never forgotten.
Probably because of the fact that this served as a late night movie on television for a long time or perhaps because the â??train station sceneâ?? and the â??baseball bat sceneâ?? are just brilliant iconic moments.
Maybe both. Iâ??ve long felt Rob DeNiro has traded in on the same character for years (which I know is a black mark against my name for expressing publicly I know) but his character bored me here. Otherwise, this was an enjoyable and stylish film and one of Costner's few shining moments.
