Review of The Untouchables (1987) by Carl H — 08 Mar 2012
This is a good old fashioned cops and robbers film, delivered on an epic scale. This is a brutal, but brilliant gangster movie without the cliche of other gangster movies. In this film Eliot Ness tries to bring down crime lord Al Capone, but he will need help, so he sets up America's equivalent of the first FBI, The Untouchables.
This film has beautiful action scenes and does not lack any of the hard talk or the stars; there is even a reference to Battleship Potemkin. The story is of course not accurate to the original story, but that is very forgivable in exchange for real epic story full of Hollywood magic.
Get your toy guns out and prepare to time travel to 1930s New York.
