Review of The Untouchables (1987) by Adam S — 07 Feb 2010
The Untouchables is the story of Elliot Ness and his fight against Al Capone during the period of prohibition. Ness and the group of policemen helping him, named the Untouchables due to the fact that they can't be bribed, are hell bent on putting Capone behind bars. The plot has excitement, drama, action and humor all piled together in to one fantastic story.
But what makes this movie really good is the cast. The highlight performance of the film is the part of Sean Connery as Malone, Ness' top man. This is one of Connery's best performances, and that's really saying something. The movie isn't afraid to throw everything at these characters and the audience, and the effect is that you can really connect with them. By the time the end of the movie comes around, your really rooting for the good guys.
Although the movie is pretty long, the above mentioned strengths that it brings to the table tends to make that more of a good thing than a bad thing. With good acting, plot some exciting and touching moments and very memorable music, The Untouchables is a must see.
